SEMI-FINAL

Judd Trump 6-0 Kyren Wilson

66-16, 88-0 (88), 61-18, 91-2 (82), 69-49, 88-38 (88)

Judd Trump has become the first player into the 2021 Cazoo Champion of Champions final whitewashing Kyren Wilson 6-0 at the Bolton Whites Hotel, the University of Bolton Stadium, live on ITV4 in the UK and networks worldwide.

Trump took the opening frame in quick time before moving through the gears in the second frame with a break of 88 to lead by two. The final frame before the interval saw a long safety battle take hold as Trump took control with a break of 82. Wilson edged the head to heads between the pair ahead of this evening but was left with plenty to ponder at the interval at 4-0 down.

The form of Trump continued straight after the interval as it seemed Wilson would come back into it. Wilson went in off, and it proved to be the key moment allowing Trump back to the table to move one away from victory. It was a night to forget for Wilson as Trump soon sealed a place in the final with a break of 88.

The Ace in the Pack has now won 16 straight frames in the tournament: “To do what I have done here has come a little bit by surprise. I haven’t played my absolute best, but it’s been nice to get through kind of comfortably. It’s been decent but not perfect. The other players have struggled a little bit. My safety has been good, and I’ve scored heavy but obviously not at my absolute best. Anytime you can beat any player 6-0 you’re doing well but to beat someone like Kyren 6-0, you must be doing something right.”

“The first frame was quite nervy. It was important for me to get that one settled down. The longer I could keep Kyren at bay and get further away, it got more difficult for him. He never really got settled in the game. It’s important to keep your foot on the gas from the early stage. There’s a bit of time between now and the final. A little bit of practice. This is such a big event. You cannot take any liberties.”

The 22-time ranking event will face the winner of John Higgins and Yan Bingtao in the final: “John has been amazing and probably the player of this season. Yan is improving all the time. I think it will be a close game, but you never know in snooker. It can go either way I think.”

“This is a massive event and one of the biggest events on the calendar. I’ve come close a couple of times but not managed to get it over the line. These are all the best players in the world. It’s a special atmosphere it’s always a special arena. This is an event that I see is special because they’re always trying new things and keeping on top of the game. It’s something I love. Hopefully, I can go out there and be the face of the competition next year.”

I love it when the crowd gets involved. I think it’s important they play their part. It gets you up. It brings the nerves out before the games. You always see the best out of the players that way. The atmosphere was incredible, and I am sure it will be for the rest of the week.” added Trump on the atmosphere at the Bolton Whites Hotel, University of Bolton Stadium tonight.

Trump awaits for the winner of tomorrow night’s semi-final live on ITV4 from 6:45 between 2016 champion Higgins and Masters champion Yan.
