In a highly anticipated semi-final clash between two former world champions, the Welsh Potting Machine lived up to his nickname, delivering a stellar opening frame with a break of 95. Williams maintained his momentum in the second frame, showcasing exquisite positional play. Robertson, seeking to level the match, faltered with a missed red, allowing Williams to extend his lead by 2-0.
The third frame saw Williams in a precarious position after fouling on the pink and trailing Robertson in points. However, a sensational recovery, including a daring bank shot on the red, allowed Williams to wrestle back control and secure the frame, taking a 3-0 lead. His dominance continued in the fourth, where a gruelling safety exchange culminated in a Robertson foul, forcing the Australian to concede and granting Williams a commanding 4-0 lead.
Robertson finally broke through in the fifth frame with a superb break of 95. Yet Williams responded emphatically, crafting a magnificent 132 total clearance in the sixth to move within one frame of the final.
The Australian managed to narrow the gap with an 86 break in the seventh, but Williams stamped his authority in the eighth and final frame. One last commanding performance saw him complete the victory with a run of 99, securing his rightful place in his first-ever Champion of Champions final, where he will face Xiao Guodong.
